The Transportation Committee is pushing forward on several fronts to improve connectivity and multi-modal options across the region. One major initiative in progress is the ferry feasibility study being led in partnership with Forward Pinellas, focused on Hillsborough and Manatee counties. As part of that effort, social media ads have been launched to raise awareness and gather public input. Meanwhile, the Committee is organizing meetings with regional stakeholders—including the Westshore Alliance, Tampa International Airport, Brightline, and others—to discuss how to improve connectivity, particularly from a future Tampa station, during an upcoming meeting.
On top of that, the Committee is excited to highlight the launch of PSTA’s SPARK route. Set to begin service on October 26, this premium/high-frequency route along 34th Street South will connect Eckerd College to Grand Central Station. Its design and schedule are intended to mirror some of the features that made SunRunner successful—frequent service, improved transit access, and better connectivity across Pinellas.
